Aurangabad district is a district in the state of Bihar, India. The headquarters of the district is Aurangabad. It is located in the southern part of Bihar, this district is one of the major districts under Magadh Division (Magadh Commissionary). The history of the Aurangabad district of the Magadh division is related to the medieval period.
Aurangabad is sometimes called "Chittorgarh of Bihar" because it has a large population of Rajputs of the Suryavanshi dynasty. Only Rajput representatives have been elected from Aurangabad since the first Indian general elections in 1952.
